PS: This problem occurred just before I installed the SSD, but thinking it would be an easy fix, and being in a rush, I just cloned the old drive to the new SSD. but if you deal with a ton of files and photos, duplicates are bound to happen. Can somebody show me how to get to those duplicate files and delete them, so I can free up the space on my computer? As easy as it all sounds, I have noticed better performance from my Mac. I am used to the world of Windows where you just find the file and delete it. ![]() Finally, I wrote PhotoSweeper and they simply copy and pasted a basic answer that told me to do what I had already done. I then went to the iPhoto app and could not find the trash there either. So, I did more research and learned that the trash is actually to be found in the Photos app. I went to the bottom of the screen to empty the trash but couldn't find the photos/videos there. I then used the same PhotoSweeper app to send them to the trash. I purchased it and sure enough the duplicate photos/videos were found-well over 100gb worth. In my research, I learned I could purchase PhotoSweeper, which would located all duplicates. I deleted some miscellaneous things and now I am currently at 28.86gb free. I researched online and found that somehow the new Photos app had duplicated all my pictures and videos. iCloud button to store all files, photos, and messages in iCloud and save. When those are dispatched, you can double back to find a more granular selection of similar. To get started, open Apple menu > About This Mac > Storage and click Manage. Suddenly the disk space was reduced to practically zero. PhotoSweeper delves into your photo libraries and you can get started by searching for exact duplicates. I have a mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a 500gb SSD. Where is the PhotoSweeper trash folder? I cannot find it in neither the Photos app nor the iPhoto app. (PhotoSweeper’s developer also makes a free version called Duplicate Photos Finder that does a decent job, but it lacks the fine-tuning that the paid version offers.)
